Thank you for your interest.

You would start by booking a free, 15-minute online consultation session with me.

You may do so by:

Step 1: Clicking here or on the “Book free 15-minute consultation” button at the bottom of this page, to go to the Overcome Anxiety Psychological booking page.

Step 2: Referring to this tutorial https://jane.app/guide/online-booking/booking-an-appointment-online-for-patients (as a new client, please choose the “Sign up” option).

You will be notified by email that your consultation apointment was successfully booked. The notification message will also contain a link to important intake paperwork to be filled out before – preferably 24 hours prior to – the free session, in order to maximize our time together during the consultation session.  You may also find this paperwork under “My account” -> “Intake forms” in your client portal. Please let me know ahead of time if you are having trouble locating the form, so I may help you find and complete it before we meet.

30 minutes before our video call, you will receive a link by email from “Overcome Anxiety” with a ‘Begin your online appointment’ button that you may click to join the virtual meeting.

Please note that JaneApp works best on GoogleChrome.

During the consultation session, I will go over a few questions with you, as well as information about my approach and policies. You will have the opportunity to tell me about your goals for therapy, ask me your burning questions, and determine if we would be a good fit.

If we decide to work together at the end of the consultation, we will meet for the rest of process which will consist of:

    • an informal assessment, that typically takes about 3 sessions and will involve telling your story and sharing your challenges, in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
    • weekly or more frequent online therapy sessions to help you work through your difficulties and acquire techniques that will work for you. This work will continue in between sessions as you will be assigned relevant homework that will help you reach your goals.

Clients who do therapy homework report noticeable improvement, within 5 sessions or less!

I use the TEAM-CBT approach which has a revolutionary framework for fast – yet profound and lasting – recovery, built on a warm and non-judgmental therapy relationship. I also use TEAM-CBT combined with Islamic Psychology for clients who would like this version of my approach. TEAM-CBT is the approach that helped me recover from 25 years of moderate to severe trauma-related anxiety. Learn more about TEAM-CBT by clicking here.  To obtain more information about Islamic Psychology, click here.

  1. Ensure you are in a quiet, private place, where you will feel comfortable discussing sensitive information and will be free from distractions and interruptions.
  2. Ensure you have a solid internet connection. Janeapp, the system I use for my sessions, will give you the option of testing your internet speed before your appoitment. To improve your internet speed, consider connecting to the Ethernet rather than using wifi, closing unneeded programs and applications on your device, powering down any devices that use internet connection and are not in use at the time of your sessions and asking other people, with whom you share your internet service, to avoid engaging in activities that take up bandwidth, such as streaming videos, during your sessions.
  3. Use headphones to improve the sound quality of your sessions.
  4. Select a well-lit room.
  5. Position your camera so that your whole face is visible.
  6. Have a notepad and pen, or electronic device handy for note-taking
  7. Make sure your device is fully charged or that you have your charging cable within reach.

I cannot ethically guarantee how long your therapy course will be. I have found that treatment typically takes between 12 and 24 weekly sessions, depending on different factors such the number of goals you wish to work on.

At Overcome Anxiety Psychological, an intensive online therapy option is offered where I will work with you for consecutive days in a row over a period of two weeks and for extended sessions, to help you reach your goals faster!

Data shows that with TEAM-CBT clients who engage in active work usually experience measurable improvement within 5 meetings or less.

The more you invest in the process, the more you will get out of it. Active work involves attending weekly therapy appointments, completing therapy homework in between your sessions, such as going through prescribed podcast episodes, book excerpts and articles, doing written exercises, and practising the skills you will learn in-session.

In my experience, women who see rapid, meaningful improvement are the ones who commit to weekly sessions and do prescribed homework in between their appointments. Because I want you and all my clients to feel better and achieve their goals as soon as possible, thereby reducing your overall time and financial investment in therapy, I strongly recommend weekly or more frequent sessions, and only work with clients who can commit to doing homework.

The cancellation policy at Overcome Anxiety Psychological is that your sessions (except for your complimentary 15-minute session) have to be cancelled with 48 hours of notice, so as to avoid being charged the full session fee. I do not make exceptions so as to be fair to all my clients. You may cancel your session directly in your client portal, or by email or phone.

Your investment will be $220 per 50-minute session or $350 per 80-minute session. Longer sessions are available at the same rate.

As services that are offered by a psychologist, my therapy sessions are covered by most insurance policies, although I recommend that you call your insurance provider to check. It may also be beneficial to ask if you have a health spending account that you may also use toward therapy.

My fees may be claimed under tax deductible health care expenses on your income tax return.

If you are eligible for these programs, please note that I also have an agreement to provide services under:

  • the NIHB (Non-Insured Health Benefits) program which provides eligible First Nations and Inuit clients with coverage for various benefits, including mental health counselling. Through this program, eligible clients can receive up to 22 hours of counselling a year.
  • the Bigstone Health benefits program which provides benefits to members of Bigstone Cree nation.  Through this program, clients can receive up to 22 hours of counselling every 12 months.
  • federal programs such as the Interim Federal Health program (IFHP) administered under Immigration, Regufees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC); this program provides limited, temporary coverage of health care benefits for specific groups of people who don’t have provincial, territorial, or private health care coverage. I also direct-bill federal programs such as programs for members of the Canadian armed forces (CAF), Royal Canadian Mounted police (RCMP), and Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC).

I also have a partnership with Sisters Dialogue that allows Muslim women residing in Alberta to see me free of charge, for 5 sessions with the possiblity to extend coverage.

No, I only provide therapy to individuals over the age of 18 at this time.

Yes, studies show that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy!

It is through Overcome Anxiety Psychological; I offer my online services on a secure, encrypted, PIPEDA compliant platform called JaneApp.

I strongly recommend at least weekly – or more frequent – therapy sessions, as I have observed that this is the minimum ‘dose’ of appointments that help my clients get the best results.

I am able to direct-bill under:

If you are a Muslim woman residing in Alberta whose sessions are subsidized by Sisters dialogue, I will bill Sisters Dialogue directly for our sessions.

However, I do not direct-bill insurance companies;  I will provide you with a receipt after every therapy session so may you be reimbursed by your insurance company. You will be charged the session fee on the credit card that you will provide when you enrol into treatment.

I am fluent in French and Mauritian Creole, in addition to English, and can offer therapy services in these additional languages. However, since the TEAM-CBT approach and many of the techniques that I use are cutting-edge, material that we will use in-session to do therapy work and that I will prescribe to you for homework, is mainly available in English at this time.

My shortest sessions are 50 minutes in duration. However, I have observed that there are more breakthroughs and faster progress when appointments are longer (that is, at least 80 minutes in duration) and that this helps reduce the overall therapy course duration (and cost) significantly. Therefore, I highly recommend longer sessions.

I am a Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta, on the traditional lands referred to as Treaty 6 Territory and the homeland of Metis Region #4, and home to many diverse groups of Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Inuit, and Métis. Since I also provide online therapy services to women residing in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, and Quebec, my clients live on various other traditional lands across Canada.

I do not provide stand-alone assessments. I conduct an ‘informal’ assessment, during our first few sessions, that is meant to give me a deeper comprehension of your history, and of the struggles and challenges you have been facing, to inform therapy.

Unfortunately, I do not currently have capacity for sliding scales. If you would like to work with me and are unable to afford my full fee, please feel free to email me at audrey@overanxietypsych.com so we may ensure that I am the right Psychologist for you and I may provide you with information about avenues that you may explore in order to afford your sessions, based on your personal circumstances. For instance, if you are a Muslim woman residing in Alberta, I currently have an agreement with Sisters Dialogue that allows eligible clients to see me free of charge, for 5 sessions with the possiblity to extend coverage.
