What you need is a Psychologist who:

  • Is authentic and truly gets it. I had similar struggles to the ones you are facing, to a severe degree, for over a decade. I overcame them quickly thanks to the approach to therapy that I use with my clients; you can too!
  • Helps you feel safe and comfortable. You can finally shed the facade of the professional and executive who has it all together at all times and that you have been feeling pressured to keep up, be and express yourself, and talk about your struggles openly. No topic is off-limits.
  • Sees you as a whole person, with all your identities, not as a mental health diagnosis.
  • Offers evidence-based therapy. I can help you find clear solutions that have been proven to be effective and lasting through scientific research.
  • Can connect with you emotionally, as if you were in the same room. I am a trained and experienced online Psychologist and my clients report that they feel deeply connected with me and feel my warmth and empathy, although we are not in the same room.

I am Audrey Kodye, B.A, M.Ed., Registered Psychologist

I founded Overcome Anxiety Psychological to create the empathetic, inclusive and validating experiences with a Psychologist that I missed when I sought my own therapy as a high-achieving professional and first-generation immigrant of Mauritian/African descent.

At Overcome Anxiety Psychological, I strive to give you the space you deserve, a space where :

  • you will not be judged and invalidated. In fact, I will share my own shared life experiences when clinically appropriate.
  • we will explore all the identities you consider important and talk about your very personal, unique goals, so as to tailor your treatment plan accordingly
  • you can easily access, warm evidence-based treatment, that can get you results fast, the same evidence-based treatment that helped me recover. Overcome Anxiety Psychological makes focused therapy accessible to professionals and executives in Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

I look forward to meeting and helping you!

If I can do it, you absolutely can!

My story as a Black, Muslim, Edmonton Psychologist

I was born and raised in Mauritius, a small island off the Eastern coast of Africa. I suffered from different forms of racism, discrimination and trauma from a young age, as a Black girl and woman, and internalized the oppression I was being subjected to on an individual and systemic level.I just was not good enough. I just was not enough.

I became an over-achiever to compensate for the flaws I thought I had. I kept up the hard work and continued collecting awards and scholarships for academic excellence and community involvement.

I moved to Canada and registered as a Psychologist in Alberta.

I married the man of my dreams, got the jobs I wanted, and everything else I could ever wish for and still felt tired, unfulfilled and unhappy, irritable, disconnected from others, defective and so severely socially anxious, social anxiety that I astutely masked, that I felt wiped out by the end of the day, and completely stuck… until I got help!

Now, I can barely imagine I was once where I was. It all feels like a bad dream that is not even mine.
