Muslim counsellor serving Muslim women in Fort McMurray
Lately, you have been feeling more anxious, overwhelmed, sad, guilty, and emotionally exhausted than usual. Your energy and motivation feel lower, even when it comes to caring for the things that matter most.
You might find yourself holding things in, feeling tearful in private, and pushing through the day on autopilot. Over time, the coping strategies that once helped no longer seem to be enough, and managing everything is harder.
If this feels familiar, you are not alone. Therapy can offer a supportive space to process what you’re going through, understand unhelpful patterns, and work toward greater clarity, balance, and inner peace, insha’Allah.
I am Audrey Kodye, a Registered Psychologist and Muslim counsellor who serves Muslim women in Fort McMurray, virtually. I have been helping women like you for 13 years.
I want you to know that you’re not the only Muslim woman in Fort McMurray who has been struggling, and that calm and joy are within reach, insha’Allah.
Fort McMurray is home to a growing and diverse Muslim community made up of individuals and families from many different backgrounds. While having a strong sense of community can be a source of comfort and belonging, it can also make seeking mental health support feel difficult for some Muslim women due to the stigma that still exists around emotional struggles and psychological well-being, despite these being a normal and important part of the human experience.
As a Muslim therapist and Registered Psychologist based in Edmonton, Alberta, it was important to me to make the specialized, Islamically grounded therapy that I provide accessible to Muslim women living in Fort McMurray. My approach is rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah while also integrating evidence-based and islamically permissible psychological techniques to support both your emotional well-being and your relationship with Allah ﷻ.
Through secure and confidential online sessions, you can access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home, without needing to travel or wait for local specialized services. Whether you work in the oil sands, have a demanding professional schedule, are raising a family, or are navigating the unique challenges that can come with living in a northern community, online counselling offers a flexible and accessible way to prioritize your mental health.
As a francophone Muslim woman, I bring both personal and professional insight to my work. Having lived and studied in France, as well as lived, studied, and worked in French-speaking communities across Canada, I understand the cultural values, perspectives, and challenges that can shape the experiences of francophone Muslims. I also recognize the unique realities of belonging to a linguistic minority and am honoured to offer Islamic counselling in French.
My Specialties
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting, especially when you have been carrying emotional pain, stress, or personal struggles on your own for a long time. Reaching out for support is a meaningful step toward healing, and with Allah’s permission, it can lead to greater peace, clarity, and positive change in your life.
If you have been searching for a “Muslim therapist near me” who understands both the psychological and spiritual aspects of healing, I am here to support you. My approach integrates halal therapeutic methods with Islamic principles, Alhamdulillah.
